Just imagine the walls were a peachy/salmon color, BLAH.
We had the standard silver box light, BLAH.
Then we had the basic mirror, BLAH. & the god awful medicine cabinet mirror.
Very boring and outdated.
So let the project begin.
We spent a total of...
$175.06
& 4 days of elbow grease and sweat :P
Materials:& 4 days of elbow grease and sweat :P
- Wood puty
- Liquid nails
- Mirror adhesive
- Painters caulk
- Stain brush
- Paint (Sage Green) Semi-gloss by Behr
- Paint (White) semi-gloss by Behr
- 3 1/4X3X4 poplar boards
- 1 1/2"X3-3/16 hem crown moulding
- 1 9/16"X2-1/2 moulding
- 1 3"X4X8 beadboard panel
- Oil rubbed bronze vanity light
- Loctite power grab all purpose
- Stain in Expresso
The Process:
Tiff & I headed to Home Depot, were we spent about 2.5 hours. This was probably the hardest part of the whole process. Making decisions figuring out measurements and gathering all the materials. Once we gathered the materials we headed back to get started. Side note::Before these steps the hubbs and I painted all the walls the sage green.
- We had HD cut the beadboard to fit our measurements of the wall.
- We mounted the beadboard to the wall. tools used- nail gun
- Next we cut the moulding to fit the wall as well.
- After those two things were mounted to the wall, we covered the holes from the nail gun with woody putty. Filled the cracks with painters caulk. Once the wood puty and caulk dried, we sanded those spots down to make them even with the surrounding wall.
- We then wiped down the whole area and began painting. (White) We touched up the baseboards as well.
Now for the mirror.
We took out the medicine mirror and added a frame around the plain jane mirror. The inspiration for the mirror was from this picture.

I stained mine in an expresso color for a pop against the green walls.
With the remaining beadboard I am going to make some art work and frame them. I will take pictures of this process :)
We are still deciding on a vanity, but once that decision is finalized then I will take pictures of E's new bathroom!
